$606,710 RAISED AT THE GALA 2014: TRIBUTE TO CONSTANCE V. PATHY, C.M., C.Q.

The Grands Ballets’ annual Gala held May, 3rd, 2014 at the Uniprix Stadium allowed us to raise $606,710. This major philanthropic event paid tribute to one of Montreal’s most influential benefactors, Mrs. Constance V. Pathy, C.M, C.Q., as well as to Les Grands Ballets as a leading cultural icon.

This prestigious night highlighted Mrs. Pathy’s major contribution to the arts and the community, and celebrated Les Grands Ballets’ accomplishment in building the international image of Montreal as a dynamic hub for dance and innovation. An evening gown and black tie event, the Gala opened its doors at 6 p.m. to a night of dancing. Guests thus had the privilege of rubbing shoulders with the company’s 35 dancers. The event also included a special performance of the Company, a gourmet dinner and a draw for over 1,000 prestigious prizes.

New this year, guests were able to participate to an exceptional contest and had the chance to win a wonderful car (value over $20,000) offered by KIA Ville-Marie & Dorval.

2013 GALA – AN UNPRECEDENTED SUCCESS!

The annual Benefit Gala, held on April 27 at Uniprix Stadium in Jarry Park under the theme of “Projected into the Future,” was an unprecedented success, exceeding the company’s fundraising target of $1 million in support of its projects. ... Read more

The approximately one thousand guests were welcomed by Isabelle Hudon, President of Sun Life Financial Quebec and the event’s vivacious Patron of Honour, by a committee of 24 dedicated businesswomen, and by Constance V. Pathy, Chair of the Board of Directors of Les Grands Ballets, Artistic Director Gradimir Pankov, and Executive Director Alain Dancyger. This marvellous evening, a convivial and festive affair, featured a draw for numerous high-quality prizes.

The Gala began with a cocktail hosted by DJ Abeille. Before the gourmet dinner came one of the high points of the evening: a superb 3-D holographic montage revealing the architectural plans of Les Grands Ballets’ new Espace Danse Québec and outlining the company’s future projects. The final image, in which Isabelle Hudon appears alongside one of the company’s first soloists, André Silva, symbolizes Les Grands’ ambition—and Grand vision! The image underscores the business community’s involvement in culture and the two worlds that are now inextricably linked, to their mutual benefit. Also on the program was a called auction, as well as a silent auction. The first two items auctioned were a gourmet meal for 10 people in the company of Isabelle Hudon and Dominique Bertrand, and a one-of-a-kind ring valued at $6,600, designed specially for the event, set with a 3.20 CTS natural tanzanite and 74-point diamonds in an 18k white gold setting. The first two items of the silent auction were just as attractive to female guests attending next year’s ball: a Prada dress offered by Isabelle Hudon, a limited Runway edition worth $8,000, and a Saint John dress by Dominique Bertrand valued at over $2,000. Finally, at 10 p.m., the dancing began! To the rhythms of Paul Chacra’s “1945” orchestra, the guests danced to their heart’s
content.

To ensure its visibility and long-term development, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal relies on a loyal public and external financial support that represents
approximately 20% of its total budget. Since its inception 57 years ago, the company has forged long-lasting bonds with subscribers, donors, private foundations and members of the business community. The generous supports of these partners is essential in ensuring the company’s financial stability.
Our next Gala will take place in April 2014. Close
