SUPPORT THE SPAIN TOUR

The dancers and several members of Les Grands Ballets are currently on the road. They are in Spain!

DID YOU KNOW?

The company tours with a minimum of 53 people: Artistic Director, 2 Ballet Masters, 35 dancers, Artistic Coordinator, Technical Director, Stage Manager, Lighting Designer, Technical Assistant, Wardrobe, 6 IATSE technicians, Touring Manager, Pianist, Physiotherapist.

Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal tours with its sets, costumes and all other related production items. The company may bring additional lighting and sound equipment to add to the existing technical equipment available in local theatres. The average weight for all the equipment is between 8,000 and 12,000 kilos depending on the productions.

Tours remain essentials for the company, who is a wonderful cultural ambassador for Montreal. Performing internationally nourishes both the Canadian and global stature of Les Grands Ballets as one of the world’s great ballet companies. Touring is also a fundamental benefit that attracts the greatest dancers and choreographers to Montreal and encourages them to make their home here. Because of this, we are able to continue providing Montreal audiences the very best of ballet. Touring helps the talent of Les Grands Ballets to shine, here and around the world.

¡ HOLA MADRID !

For the eighth time, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens are on the road in Spain and performing for the Spanish public. Between February 5th and 8th 2015, the company is presenting Sleeping Beauty, choreographed by Mats Ek, at the Sala Roja of the Teatros del Canal in Madrid. Created in 1996 for Hamburg Ballet, Sleeping Beauty tells the modern story of Princess Aurora, now a rebellious teen who has fallen victim to the prick of a heroin needle and a menacing drug dealer who has no intention of saving her. Lifted by the stirring sounds of Tchaikovsky and Ek’s signature dark humour, audiences will dive into the many troubling and beautiful layers of the human psyche, exploring death, love, jealousy, revenge and happy endings with 30 dancers from Les Grands Ballets.

VOLUNTEERING :

To be a voluntary helper of Les Grands Ballets is to be part of such stimulating projects as The Nutcracker Fund for Children, the annual Benefit Gala, the Ambassadors Draw, and the Nutcracker Market. But it may also involve clerical, technical or administrative support for the company’s special projects.

FRIENDS OF LES GRANDS :

The Friends of Les Grands have a shared passion for dance. This committee’s sole concern is the welfare of the dancers. The sums raised from funding activities, such as the sale of dance shoes, partially cover the troupe’s physiotherapy services and Pilates program. As a Friend of Les Grands, you are entitled to certain privileges, such as being a volunteer for projects reserved for you. Even better, the Friends of Les Grands get to mingle with the dancers when preparing buffets for dress rehearsals.
